
Arezzo & Cortona with Wine-Tasting (10 hours)
Departing from Florence to reach the Medieval city of Arezzo.
Visit the 13th century cathedral of the saints, Peter & Donato, stroll down to the the Santa Maria della Pieve church and then enter into the impressive “Piazza Grande” where the film “Life is Beautiful” was filmed. Continue to San Francesco church to admire the frescoes of Piero della Francesca.
We continue our journey to the delightful Etruscan town of Cortona, well worth visiting not only for it’s beauty but for it’s position, majestically perched on the top of a hill with stunning views and steeped in history.
One hour free time to explore and have lunch. Afterwards we will have a look at the famous “Bramasole” country house situated on the outskirts of Cortona where the famous film and book “Under the Tuscan Sun” written by Francis Mayes was filmed. Then visit the hermitage “Eremo delle Celle founded by San Francesco di Assisi which was his place of prayer.
On our return journey to Florence, stop to visit a wine cellar to taste the wonderful wines like the Nobile de Montepulciano.
Transport – comfortable 7 seater V Class Mercedes minivan with air conditioning and English speaking driver. Journey times 1hr to Arezzo, Arezzo to Cortona 1hr, 30 minutes to the wine-cellar & 1hr 30 minutes back to Florence. Wine-tasting €15-25 per person.
